Anglers

Covert proudly sponsors several boats and anglers, you can find updates about their progress and highlights here.

Captain Tony Pantuso
New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Capt.Tony is a professional, full-time angler that has fished in East-Central Florida and the Mosquito Lagoon since 1990. For more than twenty years his passion has been sight fishing the shallow pristine flats of the Mosquito Lagoon.

He fishes close to 300 days a year and loves every minute of it. He would not have it any other way!!!

Ever since hooking up with his first red-fish in 1990 Capt. Tony has been hooked on shallow water fishing.

Red-fish,  Sea Trout, Snook, Tarpon and Black Drum are the usual target's for Captain Tony.  But, If it bites he will try and catch it!!

Capt. Tony started fishing the Northern California ponds and lakes at a very young age. At  16 years old he started to bow hunt wild hogs and black-tail deer. To him, the rush of having a 300lb Russian boar at 15 yards was just like having 100 20-50lb Bull red-fish tailing 30 feet off the bow of the boat!!!

The spot and stalk technique used in bow hunting crossed over into shallow water fishing perfectly. Poling silently along, looking for subtle signs that a fish was there. He would get buck fever at the sight of a 300  40lb red-fish tailing  right in front of the boat unspooked or a Gator trout sitting in a sand spot un-aware of his presence!! But, he would settle down, make the cast and FISH ON!!

For Capt. Tony, it's more than a passion, it's an obsession.

Captain Matt Marinelli
Lake Mary, Florida

Being born in CT offered a wide variety of fishing opportunities, from salt water to sweet water and hard water in the winters. It wasn’t uncommon to find me on my favorite walleye lake in mid January and then at my favorite trout stream in mid April. Most summers through fall I spent working full time as a first mate on one of Connecticut’s most premier charter boats . Days off weren’t ever days off. It just meant that I could go stick some fish in my own boat and fish some weekend trails and also after work tournaments.
I relocated to Florida at the end of 2013 and spent all my time learning new water…and new fish. Fished two local clubs, FLW, and B.A.S.S to gain the needed Florida experience. I had one top ten finish in the 2013 BFL season and finished top 40 in points to qualify for the Regional Championship. Also qualified for the state championship for B.A.S.S Nation and finished in 4th to ensure my spot on the 2014 state team and to the Southern Divisional Championship.

Captain Freddie Zona
New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Capt. Freddie is the owner and operator of Freddie Z Fishing and Southwind Charters. He has been fishing for a living in the waters of Central Florida since 1994. He enjoys meeting new people and showing them a great time on the water with some awesome fishing.

Capt. Freddie loves fishing out of Ponce Inlet. "We are blessed with some great versatile fishing". From 5 miles to 50 miles offshore there are numerous wrecks, reefs, ledges and artificial reefs. These structures hold a variety of bottom dwellers such as grouper, snapper, black drum, amberjacks, flounder, cobia, snapper, huge redfish, and plenty of sharks.

You can also target a variety of Pelagics depending on the season. These include Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, bonito, mahi, wahoo, barracuda, sailfish and an occasional blue marlin.

Capt. Freddie has fished many billfish tournaments up and down the East Coast bringing anglers to the award podium countless times. His love and dedication to the sport of fishing has lead to his success.

Eric Panzironi
Longwood, Florida

Capt. Eric was born in Columbus, Ohio and moved to FL when he was 10 years old. As a child he loved being outdoors and on the water fishing. Not much has changed since then, but now he has taken his hobby to the next level. Eric entered his first fishing tournament 7 years ago and got "hooked". He has won many (Winter Springs) Bass Master Club and FL Bass Nation tournaments. Along with those wins, he was Angler of the Year in 2012 & 2014 in FL Bass Nation and has held onto Angler of the Year for the past 4 years (2011-2014) in Bass Masters Club. He has also done well fishing in the Elite One Man and ABA weekend tournaments, and plans to start fishing in the Bass Master Opens beginning in January 2016. He hopes his passion for the sport will help him to reach his goal of fishing in the Bass Master Elite in the future.
